Mooney Goes Wild in Askea!!

Holy Family B.N.S. has always had a keen interest in promoting awareness of our environment. The school has won several awards from the local Tidy Town's Committee over the past few years. We hope to show in this website the practical work undertaken by the school in the whole area of enhancing our enviroment. It is not the most glamorous of projects but everything we do is useful and relevant to protecting the envoirment. For our Internet project we will focus on four of these areas as listed below.

To download extracts from our school book bring your pointer to the story you want to download. When the pointer turns into a hand you right click on the mouse. A dialogue box will appear. Select "Save target as.." Follow on screen instructions.

2:Litter Duty: Every class from Second up to Sixth are assigned litter duty on a weekly rota. Only litter is to be collected. No cans, wire and especially glass are to be picked up. They are to be reported to the caretaker Pat. Each child has to wear disposable plastic gloves when they are on litter duty. 3:Recyclable Art  Materials. Children are asked to bring in on a continuous basis recyclable materials which may be used for art lessons. Click on thumbnails below to view materials donated and art works created by children using same materials.

4:School Garden. The school has an inner courtyard which has been turned into a beautiful garden. Children are involved in the care and maintenance of this garden. What is so nice about this garden is that birds use it for nesting in. We also used the upper garden to erect our Ogham stone which was part of our schools Millennium project. 5:Internet Links. All our Internet links are stored on the desktop in appropraite folders with the master folder being Idirlinn. This means that when we want to go on the internet we click on the Idirlinn folder. This opens up a whole range of folders ranging from gaeilge to nature to Stair etc.each folder contains appropriate links to suitable sites.
