The school has won several awards from the local Tidy Town's Committee over the past few years. We hope to show in this website the practical work undertaken by the school in the whole area of enhancing our enviroment. It is not the most glamorous of projects but everything we do is useful and relevant to protecting the envoirment. For our Internet project we will focus on four of these areas as listed below. This site will be added to on an ongoing basis. 1:Write a Book Project. Theme:Nature. Class: Fourth Seomra 16. Each child has to wear disposable plastic gloves when they are on litter duty. Click on thumbnails below to view photos of children working on litter duty. 3:Recyclable Art Materials. Children are asked to bring in on a continuous basis recyclable materials which may be used for art lessons. Click on thumbnails below to view materials donated and art works created by children using same materials. 4:School Garden. The school has an inner courtyard which has been turned into a beautiful garden. Children are involved in the care and maintenance of this garden. What is so nice about this garden is that birds use it for nesting in. We also used the upper garden to erect our Ogham stone which was part of our schools Millennium project. Click on thumbnails below to view same. 5:Internet Links. All our Internet links are stored on the desktop in appropraite folders with the master folder being Idirlinn. This means that when we want to go on the internet we click on the Idirlinn folder. This opens up a whole range of folders ranging from gaeilge to nature to Stair etc.each folder contains appropriate links to suitable sites. Some of our favourites are http://www.naturesongs.com and http://www.wildireland.ie If you wish to download our set of 300+ categorised links go to our Computer Club Links which you can see to the left of the screen. |
