The Transition Year Programme

Transition Year Programme

The Transition Year programme (T.Y.P.) contributes extensively to the personal, social, academic and Christian development of our students. The strength of the programme is in the variety of opportunity provided and the challenge it presents for the boys. There is also a challenge for the parents who play a pivotal role. The success of the T.Y.P. for each individual student is dependent, to a large extent, upon encouragement, enthusiasm, interest and innovation emanating from home.

Aidlink, Amnesty International, Blackrock College Radio (BCR), Green Watch, and the Pastoral Programme all continue to thrive and indeed seem to be better then ever. The St. Vincent de Paul conference continues to develop an already extensive programme of visitation and fund-raising. The past-pupil involvement in the conference provides a unique opportunity for past and present to work together for the benefit of those in need.

Co-Operation and communication between school, management, teaching and administrative staff, parents and students is the key to the success of the T.Y.P.. We are very fortunate in Blackrock to have staff with the requisite commitment, dedication and resourcefulness to ensure the implementation of the T.Y.P..
