Visitors From Latvia
One day in April 2003 two Latvian's came to our classroom. Laila and Armands
are their names. Laila speaks American English, Russian, English and Latvian.
The temperature over there in winter can drop to -30 degrees C but in summer
can reach 35 degrees C. Their sports are basketball, volleyball and ice hockey.
Latvia is much smaller than Ireland plus Latvia is much smaller in money so,
many of them came to Ireland for better money just like Laila and Armands (The
two Latvians) We learned about the animals of the country like bears, crocodiles
and lots of lizards but sadly for me no rhinos. Leila was a teacher in Latvia
but now is a quality controller in a mushroom factory in Belmullet. When they
came they were accompanied by Ian Mc Andrew.
On the 11 of April of this year visitor from Latvia called Laila came to our
school. She told us about her country and it was very interesting. She now
works in the Mushroom factory in Belmullet. Before she came to Ireland
she worked as a teacher and she came to Ireland is to earn more money because
Latvia is a poor country and only got their independence 12 years ago. She said
that she liked Latvia but she had to come to Ireland to make money. She
was accompanied by Ian Mc Andrew and Armes ( work colleagues). Ian was there
to see our school and to tell us about his work. Armes did not know as much
English because he has been in Ireland for only six months.

The End. By Anthony.
On the 11th of April 2003
two Latvians and a worker from the mushroom factory (where the Latvians work)
came to our school to explain about Latvia. They told us all about their
country and they pointed it out on our globe. Laila who was a teacher in Latvia
told us that they gained independance 12 ago and that they played basketball
alot
Their job was to say the quality of the mushrooms. Lelia left Latvia 3 years
ago and Armans left 6 months ago. They like Latvia better than Ireland. Their
weather is much colder in winter and warmer in summer.
