A Memory

I remember back in September 2003, my nanny asked my sister and me if we would stay for the weekend. We were about to go to bed when we heard a funny noise. My nanny came to check on us because she heard the noise too. We got up and nanny looked outside the back door. There was a big flood out side and the road was like a river. We asked her what it was and she said it was a land slide. We didn’t get much sleep that night either. The next morning when we looked out we couldn’t believe what we saw. The land slide had come in the front garden. My nanny was very happy we came and stayed with her that night because no one could get to her because the bridges were washed away. I’ll always remembers the night we stayed with my nanny the night of the landslide.

Memories
Some memories I have of spending time with my grandmother are when I went up to stay with her, she spoiled me. When I would go up after school she would have dinner ready for me. My favourite meal that she cooks is her minced meat; everyone that has tasted it says that. When I would be ready to go to bed she would go down to the room and put the electric blanket on for me so the bed would be nice and cosy for me. When I got up to go to school the next morning (she would make sure I was up) she had cereal and tea waiting for me. I like staying over at my nanny’s house. She is a very religious woman so there are a lot of holy statues and pictures in her house. I like talking to her about my mom and my uncles and aunties about when they were younger and she sometimes shows me pictures and stuff belonging to her. I really enjoy visiting my grandmother’s house. I am very lucky to have a nanny like her because she is always so kind to me.

Memory of Senior Person

The senior person that I have memories of is my grandad. My grandad and I were always very close. We used to do all sorts of things together. Chess, drawing, puzzles and crosswords. My grandad was also very clever. That’s probably who I get it off. Unfortunately though my grandad died in 2008. My grandad was truly an inspiration to me. I’m just sad he isn’t here today.

Memory of the Senior

One day while visiting my Grandparents in Doolough, my granddad told us a story of two shipwrecks that had happened in the 1920s. These two shipwrecks happened beside the beach where my grandparents live. One of the shipwrecks was a coal ship and the other ship was a pirate ship. Granddad told us that it was said at the time that the pirates came ashore on the strand and are supposed to have buried a treasurechest on the land above the strand. We asked granddad to take us to the strand to show us where the chest of treasure might have been buried. On our way to the strand granddad took us to the Doolough cilín. The cilín is a burial ground from the time of the famine. From here we went on our treasure hunt to see if we could find the buried treasure, when we suddenly we spotted a group of horses coming towards us. We were about to go and pet them when we noticed them running wild. Granddad said don’t go too close to the horses because they might hurt us. So we turned and ran the opposite way. Granddad and dad were in front of me. We were so scared we kept looking behind us. The next thing I noticed was that we had tripped in our excitement and we were all rolling down a deep sand bank. We laughed as much about the day that evening. We still laugh about it to this day .

The Day I nearly Lost my Granny

I would like to write about the day  I lost my granny. When I was 4 years old I went on holiday to England with my brother, sister and mother. While I was there we went to Chessington World of Adventure for a day’s activity. We where shocked as there were so many rides to chose from. I was only allowed on certain rides. While we where watching my brother and sister climbing on the climbing frame, my granny disappeared. We spent the next half an hour looking for her. We finally found her in a sweet shop queueing to buy some sweets for me!
