Clare County Council Seeks Further Clarification from OPW

On 22 April 1997 the County Council sought further clarification from the OPW regarding the application for the development at Mullaghmore. The following is the text of County Council's request:

The Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland

Dublin 2

A Chara

I refer to your application for an entry point at Crag Road (CR 103), Gortlecka and Knockaunroe to the Burren National Park, Comprising covered waiting area, toilets, ranger accommodation, ancillary parking, storage and signage and in particular to your reply to the Councils request for further information.

I order to allow the council to properly consider the application please submit the following clarification:-

  1. It is noted that the location of the disposal of treated effluent has not yet been identified. Please clarify the general location of such disposal point and the distance which it is anticipated treated effluent is to be transported.

  2. It is noted that the applicant acknowledges that a contribution to road improvements in the area must be made by the developer. It is also stated that £400,000 has been made available to Clare County council for this purpose. The Council considers that the upgrading of the public road will cost significantly more than the previous estimate. Please clarify whether these extra resources will be made available to the Council.

When in receipt of a reply to the above further consideration will be given to your application.
