Musical Muses

By incomprehensibly-popular demand, here are a few of my musical meanderings, in MP3 format*. Most of the earlier sound quality problems are now resolved on the full versions of each track, although the excerpts still suffer...

Date Title Excerpts/Comments
NEW!

Transatlantic Wedding Suite (5.5 Mb) Written to be played at Alistair + Vivian's wedding on 9/1/2003
April 2002 Runaway (3.2 Mb) First attempt to wrestle with Cubase
July 2000 Nobody Does it Better (3.2 Mb) Recorded for an eponymous someone...

April 2000

Romancin' & Dancin (5.9 Mb) A wedding present for two friends who married on April 30th.
April 2000 The Bell (5.3 Mb) An experiment in internet collaboration... I play the first and last guitar you hear on this (and "Scottish Guit-AAR" in the middle!), but I've never met any of the other musicians in my life...
June 1999 Finding the Way (4.7Mb) Unfinished... I haven't recorded the words yet, and probably never will! For a friend, to remind her that being 30 isn't so bad.
August 1998 Ali's Wedding (5.6Mb) I: My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose (1.4 Mb)
II: Unst Bridal March
(2.4 Mb)
III: Mairi's Wedding (1.7Mb)
August 1998 Wonderful Tonight (2.8Mb) Acoustic version of old Slowhand's cheesy classic.
December 1997 Going Home (4.3 Mb) My version of the theme from my favourite film... recorded on my old 4-track tape recorder, hence dubious quality...
July 1997 Skye Boat Song (5.9Mb) Trad. Scottish balad, with my not so traditional mid section, also recorded in memory of a friend. I've removed the vocals from this version, though, so it drags on a bit...
May 1997 Long Road Home (7.8Mb) I: Leaving (2.1Mb)
II: Biking It
(2.3Mb)
III: Skye Bridge Song
(1.1Mb)
IV: Fàilte
(2.2Mb)

Seididh gaoth is dearrsaidh grian
Tro mheas nan craobhan, lin gu lin,
Ach thigh an la is thigh an t-an
Airson an ubhal as airde
Air a'chraobh a bhuain.

The winds will blow and the sun will shine
Through the trees of the garden, from generation to generation,
But the day and the hour will surely come
To take the highest apple
From the knowledge tree.
