Christmas in Corville
It's Christmas Day,
I love this year,
I have a Bear,
Her name is Claire,
I love her hair,
She is fair,
And she is bare,
But I don't care,
Because she's my bear.

Our School Christmas Tree

Today we got three Christmas trees. Two of them were small and one was big. Mr. White told me to pick the biggest one, so my friends and I carried in the biggest one into our school hall. It took us forever to put the tree standing up properly, we ended up having to use a bin filled with rocks to balance it. My friend and I and Ms. Moloney tried the lights out. There were three sets, one set was only working, luckily those were the biggest set. So we put them on the tree and we then put the decorations on the tree. It looked OK but then Patrick found a blue ball with thorn thread so he unravelled the thread and began to throw the ball around the tree, the blue thread began spinning thread all around the tree, it looked wonderful, it looked like a big blue web. We made some more decorations and repaired old ones, when we were finished the tree looked lovely.

Christmas in Corville
Christmas is here,
We all cheer,
Carol singers singing,
Church bells ringing.
Santa's on his way,
Hip Hip Horay!
Presents for everyone,
And two weeks off school.
Jesus was born on this holy day,
Joseph and Mary were happy,
Hip Hip Horay!.

Christmas in Corville

Christmas here,
Christmas there,
Christmas all around us.
Children play,
Children laugh,
Children all around us.
People out,
People there,
People singing carols.
Oh, how I love Christmas,
Christmas everywhere.

Carol Singing

Every year we go carol singing in Corville and in Kennedy Park. We go around from house to house singing. When we are finished we go back to school and we get a drink and some sweets and we play for a while. We then go home for the Christmas holidays.

Christmas Eve and every is exciting.  The Christmas lights are up on the tree and the decorations. I leave cookies and milk and when Santa comes he will eat them. When he is gone we run down the stairs and we open the presents. Later that day we go to church and see baby Jesus in the crib with his family, when we go home we visit Nanny.

Christmas Toys in Corville

Christmas is here, that wonderful day,
And all the children come to play,
With all their toys :
They jump with joy,
Small dolls, big footballs,
We go to Mass we pray, we pray,
Oh what a wonderful day!

Jumble Sale

Every year we have a jumble sale. We go around to all the classes and tell the children we will be having a jumble sale next week. Then every morning we would go to each class and ask all the pupils if they have any toys that they want to give us, this usually takes a week and then we go into the hall and empty the toys out and sort them out. Then we have buns, cakes, drinks and sweets for sale also. Last year we made seventy pounds and Mr. White put the remainder to it to make a hundred pounds. We gave all the money to charity.

Every year we have a jumble sale and our class asks the pupils to collect any old toys and bring them into school. For a few days we go around and collect everything, then we have the jumble sale.
A few weeks before the sale we put up the Christmas tree and decorate it and decorate the hall. At the sale we cakes and buns also to sell. We also play different games.

Jumble Sale

On or around the 16th December we get ready for a jumble sale. Mr. White lets 6th class work in the jumble sale, he picks pupils from 6th class to go around to every class to ask everyone to bring in toys for the jumble sale, most of the toys are priced between 10p to 50p for smaller and bigger ones. People bring in cakes, buns, and drinks. Some people play with the computers. My friends and I buy lots of toys. My bigger brother Martin worked in the jumble sale two years ago but now he is in the Community College. We hope to make lots of money this year like the past years.

Broken Toys at Christmas in Corville
They claimed it was the latest,
The newest version out, very modern,
They said it was the best, that money could buy,
They said it was foolproof, waterproof, shockproof,
Shockproof, childproof, indestructible,
They said it was reliable,
But we had to take it back, it didn't work.

Carol Singing

Every Christmas in our school we do carol singing. We practice in the school for a few weeks beforehand and then when the day comes we meet at the phone box in Kennedy Park.  It was freezing last year hopefully it will be better this year  On the night we go out Mr. White brings his flash lamp and Mrs. White drives the car to carry the food we collect, this food is for the poor people at Christmas, we collect the food in bags from different houses and we sing our carols, we put the bags when they are full into the car. Sometimes older children join in our group and sing also. When we have finished singing we go back to Corville National School for a party. We eat bars and taytos and have drinks. When the party is over we go home for Christmas.

 Jumble Sale

A couple of times a year Corville National school organizes a jumble sale where every person in the school brings in old toys and books and they give them to 6th class who organize the jumble sale. We set up the sale in the school hall, we also have raffles with prizes such as clouding sets and jigsaws and stuffed toys. We also bring up the computers to the school hall and people pay money to play on them such as 5p or 10p. Our kitchen is used to sell drinks and cakes, some mothers bake and we sale what ever they bake. When the sale is over we can raise up to £100, and we donate this to a charity such as Concern.
