The Irish Rare Breeds Society is a Registered Charity.  The aims of the Society are to "to promote education in and knowledge of the importance of conservation of endangered breeds of indigenous domestic farm animals".

The society aims to promote awareness of the need for biodiversity in domestic farm animals; set up records of the population and status of indigenous endangered breeds; encourage appropriate research and to set up a community for those who keep rare breeds.

We are particularly interested in the native Irish rare breeds:

Dexter cattle
Irish Moiled cattle
Kerry cattle
Galway sheep
