Jigs are a much more primitive form of Irish music than reels or hornpipes, and come in several guises or versions of triple-time, such as single, double, and slip. They are generally simpler to play than reels as they usually contain less notes. I love to play these tunes on whistles, fiddle, mandolin, mandola, tenor banjo & Irish bouzouki, as well as solo guitar, and I hope that you will also. I've found that knowing the mechanics & intimacies of a tune, as a solo performer, makes you a much more skilled accompanist on guitar in any Irish traditional music session. You can use the MIDIs in this archive for your listening pleasure or simply as a quick reference to remind yourself of how a particular jig sounds.
The source TABs give much more information on the actual fingerings, as well as the ornaments, used. Ornaments or decorations, however, are always a matter of personal taste and style, and may be interpreted as you like. Listen to the tunes as played by some of the great musicians who have recorded them, in order to gain a sense of tasteful ornamental interpretation.

My sincere thanks & respect go to all the many composers, both living and dead,
whose melodies I have arranged here for guitar.

I'd really appreciate it if some of you guitarists out there would please give me a bit of support by

BUYING a few of these TABs from me (It really won't break yer bank).
This archive represents over 5 years of painstaking detailed work on my part.
I really could do with your support here! in order to continue tabbing.
or you could make a small donation by clicking below
