This is the schedule for the intake of new First Year students, who will start in September 2003.

 

Enrolment of First Years

Saturday 9 November 2002

Open Day for parents and prospective pupils from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Principal's address will be at 11 a.m.

Application Forms will be distributed through the local Primary Schools, and will also be available on Open Day and from the School Office.

Monday 2 December 2002

Closing date for receipt of applications.

Friday 6 December 2002

Offers of places. Priority will be given to those who meet the following criteria:

* Pupils who are committed to coming to Douglas Community School as their school of choice.

* Pupils from national schools in the area.

* Pupils who live in the immediate vicinity of the school and who have not attended national schools in the area.

* Brothers of pupils or former pupils of this school.

* Sons of former pupils.

Waiting list

A waiting list of those not offered places will be established at this stage.

Friday 13 December 2002

Closing date for receipt of acceptance of place.

Saturday 1 February 2003

Assessment:- Objective Assessment and Reading Tests for those who have been offered places and those who are on the waiting list.

Consultation with primary teachers and parents to discuss subject choices and assessment tests.


Most of our new students start in First Year at the beginning of the academic year, in September. The usual procedure for these applicants is outlined above. A student who wishes to come to the school at another time of the year, or into a Year other than First Year, may get an application form from admin@dcscork.ie.
