A big win for the Senior Gaelic football squad at Ovens, where they defeated Coláiste Choilm by 1-11 to 0-8 to win through to the semi-final of the Corn Uí Mhuirí (Munster Colleges SFC). This leaves them as the only Cork school in the last four of this prestigious competition and they now face Tralee CBS in the semi-final.29 January 2003

Two winners in the Peace Competitions run by Cecil Hurwitz. Conor McCarthy won a prize in the Peace Slogan competition and Kevin Moore (class NB1) who won the Junior section of the Peace Essay competition.25 January 2003
Mark Hanrahan went to Belfast to represent Ireland in the Celtic International Cross-Country Championships, contested by Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland. Mark won the gold medal in the Junior Mens category, over 7 km, with a winning margin of 37 seconds.23 January 2003
Back to the soccer season - the U-18 team defeated Coláiste Spioraid Naoimh of Bishopstown, in the Cork County Cup quarter-final on a scoreline of two goals to nil.18 December 2003
A big win today, and a historic one also, when the U-18 hurling team won, for the first time, the O'Callaghan Cup, Cork Colleges Senior A Hurling Championship. At Páirc Uí Rinn, against favourites St Colman's Fermoy, the 1-10 to 1-9 scoreline was an accurate reflection of the thrilling encounter.11 December 2003
The U-18 hurling team won their semi-final match in the O'Callaghan Cup, Cork Colleges Senior A Hurling, today when they beat Farranferris College with a goal in the last minute from Fintan O'Leary.29 November 2002
In the final game of their qualifying group the U-19 basketball team won by 42 pts to 22 pts against Glanmire Community College in the DCS Sportshall. They now go on to the quarter-final of the Cork Schools Cup.27 November 2002

In the second round of the All-Ireland German Debating Competition the school's team of Paul Budds (Captain), Paul Durcan, Peter O'Driscoll and Kevin Murphy won against Presentation Secondary School, Mitchelstown.20 November 2002

Old rivals Coláiste an Spioraid Naomh of Bishopstown were defeated on a 3-2 scoreline in the preliminary round of the U-17 soccer Munster Cup at the school grounds.The U-18 hurling team went to Ballylanders, Co Limerick to take on Ard Scoil Rís of Limerick in the first round of the Munster Championship and had an easy win, scoring 6-9 to 0-4.

DCS had a great win in the first game at the top level of Gaelic football following last year's promotion, beating the one-time kingpins of the Corn Uí Mhuirí, St Brendans Killarney, in the first round of the competition at Macroom. This is the Munster Colleges Senior Football Championship and DCS won by 0-12 to 0-9.1 October 2002
The Lord Mayor of Cork Councillor John Kelleher continued a long tradition, going back to the 1920's, when he visited the school and addressed an assembly of students.25 September 2002

The under-18 hurling team made their debut in the A grade of the Cork Colleges competition in Youghal today. They recorded a win in their Dr O'Callaghan Cup first round match against the local Youghal CBS side, on a 5-9 to 4-7 scoreline.29 August 2002
