Global Macros
Gobal macros allow the user to record commands and save them
to a defined macro (1 of 10). These can be re-recorded at any time. CTRL-SHIFT-R
will record global macros. Once the user has recorded the macro, it must
be assigned to a Short-Cut keystroke. Global macros are available
to all file types.
Language Macros
Language Macros are sets of editor commands combined together
to perform a specific function. Macros are part of a language definition
and allow the editor extra functionality when editing specific files.
When Prism loads a file,
it automatically assigns defined macros to the 'Custom' Menu. This allows
the macros to be close at hand during editing.
A good example of a macro would be to search and analyze
warnings or errors in a report file. A specific report file could report
errors in a certain way. Using the language definitions form, a macro called
'Find Warnings' is defined. This macro would produce a summary
of errors and report them to a log file. The custom menu would look
like this

Using macros like this greatly enhances a designers productivity.
Defining your own Language Specific Macros.
-
New macros can be defined very easily. Just go into the [View->Languages]
definitions form and select the language (If you are currently using a
language, it automatically defaults to this).
-
Select the Macros Tab. In this tab, you can add/delete
macros or change the macro commands. For a full list of Macro Commands
see the Macro Command reference.
