In November, 2001, Fifth and Sixth class signed up for email reports of earthquakes from the BigQuake mailing list maintained by USGS National Earthquake Information Center. They continued to receive the information until late January, 2002.

By this time we had details of 53 earthquakes and we were analysing the data in lots of different ways. We started to make little cards showing some of the basic facts for some of the earthquakes. We made a wallchart of all the facts and put it up alongside a map of the world then attached strings to show where they were happening.

Nearby that we put different kinds of charts made from the data.

Looking at the charts gave us some ideas about questions to ask so we sent them to USGS and we were delighted when Mr John Lahr answered them for us.

After all that hard work we decided to have some fun. We started with a word-search and a crossword puzzle and then added scrambled definitions. Have fun with us!
