1997 London MUD2 Meet

As some of you may have read, MUDGUARD the wizard organised a MUD2 meet in London for November 15, 1997. Players travelled from all over the UK, Ireland, and even America to attend. Present were:

APOSTAT, BRAHMA, CAT, FLICK, FODRULES, GRENDEL, LESTAT, MUDGUARD, PUGSLEY, RICHARD, STARFIRE, TABITHA, and ZEDD.
The meet started at 2:00 pm in the Princess Louise pub, near Oxford Street. RICHARD had brought along some MUD goodies for everyone in the form of colour maps of The Land, MUD pens, and so on, and STARFIRE brought some surprise gifts all the way from Texas. The conversation flowed as freely as the beer, but what was discussed cannot be committed to these pages. If you're curious, make it along to the next meet.
Around 6:30 pm, we moved across the road to the Old Dutch Pancake House (which had thoughtfully gone to the trouble of supplying some black pointy hats for the more inebriated among us to try on). After the meal, some of us went on to a nearby office which conveniently had five computers linked to the Internet, perfect for a spot of late-night MUDding (thanks to the two players who hosted this; you know who you are).
During the afternoon, I snapped a few pictures so if you've ever wondered what your favourite wiz or mortal looks like, you might find out from one of the following photos:

PUGSLEY and RICHARD
CAT, LESTAT, APOSTAT, and TABITHA
FODRULES and GRENDEL

I wasn't the only person there with a camera. If you want to see some more photos, why not check out:

All in all, this was a pretty enjoyable meet. It was great to finally put a face to some of the familiar names from MUD2, and to meet up again with friends from former meets. A big thanks to MUDGUARD for all the time he spent organising it. And if you couldn't make it this time, make sure you're at the next one!
