Castlemagner
is situated in the Barony of Duhallow in
north-west county Cork in the south-west
of Ireland. It sits among the undulating
hills of the Blackwater valley and extends
to the banks of the Blackwater river. The
elegant Mount Hilary (1200 ft) and the
Boggeragh Mountains (1250 ft) sweep up
from the southern banks of the river.
Castlemagner is centrally positioned for
touring the scenic southwest with
virtually all the major attractions lying
within 1-2 hour's drive. They

The directions below give the most common
routes from the Dublin, Cork and Shannon.

From
Cork: Follow signs for Limerick on the
N20 and drive 20 miles north to the
roundabout at the entrance to Mallow (next
to the Roundabout Tavern) . Turn left
(first exit of the roundabout) on to the
N72 heading west towards Killarney. After
8.3 miles, bear right to Kanturk (R576) -
you will have passed a huge green sign on
the left showing the turnoff to Kanturk.
Turn right at first crossroads to
Castlemagner and proceed through to
Castlemagner village.
From
Shannon Airport: Proceed towards
Limerick and follow signs through several
roundabouts for Cork/Killarney on the N20.
After Patrickswell, follow the N20 where
it bears left to Cork. Proceed to
Buttevant and turn right for Kanturk
(R580) - do not take the right for Kanturk
in Charleville. After 6.7 miles you will
reach a 'T' junction, turn left at 'T'
junction. Then, after 0.75 miles take the
second right down a narrow road. At the
end of this road you will reach a 'T'
junction, turn right. Follow this road
until you reach another 'T' junction, turn
left at this junction, then an immediate
right. Castlemagner village is 0.75 miles
from this junction.
From
Dublin: Take the N7 towards
Cork/Limerick. Bear left at Portlaoise on
to the N8 for Cork. In Mitchelstown, bear
right on to the N73 towards Mallow. When
you reach Mallow town, you need to turn
right (follow signs for Killarney) and
drive through the town centre. At the exit
of the town you will reach a roundabout
(next to the Roundabout Tavern), go
straight ahead at the roundabout on the
N72 towards Killarney. After 8.3 miles,
bear right to Kanturk (R576) - you will
have passed a huge green sign on the left
showing the turnoff to Kanturk. Turn right
at first crossroads to Castlemagner and
proceed through to Castlemagner
village.
