"In working with young people, do not try to call them back to where they were, and do not call them to where you are, as beautiful as that place may seem to you. You must have the courage to go with them to a place neither you nor they have been before.

(V.J. Donovan, Christianity Rediscovered)

Calling on all young people aged sixteen years and over, committed to the practice of their faith.

This council comprises of two youth representatives from each parish who are members of the executive groups who meet three to four times a year. The duration of the post is for two years.

Each deanary has its own council, and this year we will focus on the Athlone deanary which comprises of the following parishes: Ferbane, Ballinahowen, Shannonbridge, Moate, Cloghan, and Athlone.

At these meetings, young adults come together to pray, share, discuss and interact with one another. They also have the purpose of organising one faith development event which may involve all the youth of the diocese.

The final meeting culminates with attending the Annual Diocesan Youth Conference.
