Friends of Athlone Town New Stadium Golf Classic |
|
|
|
Athlone Town Stadium Ltd. are pleased to announce that
the long wait is over, and work is well underway on
the construction of the Athlone Town New Football Stadium.
This development is essential if Athlone Town is to
continue playing in the eircom League, and to contemplate
the oldest club in the Republic of Ireland not participating
in the League is unthinkable.
Now the future looks bright, and while there has been
a considerable amount of progress, much more remains
to be done. Continuing fundraising is an essential part
of the plan, and to this end, we are holding the second
Friends of Athlone Town New Stadium Golf Classic. Last
year the Golf Classic proved to be a major success and
a good day was had by one and all. So why not join us
on Monday October 11th 2004 at Woodbrook Golf Club,
have a most enjoyable day's golf, meet old friends and
maybe make new ones, and be happy in the knowledge that
you are supporting the Athlone Town New Stadium Project.

'Stadium
Project' Now A Runner |
|
|
Work continues on the Athlone Town New Stadium development
and good progress can be reported. For progress to continue,
on going fundraising is essential. To this end, a very
generous supporters of the Project has leased a racehorse
to assist the Stadium Project fundraising drive. The
donor will donate all race winnings to the stadium fund,
and will carry all costs incurred. The horse is a four-year-old
gelding by French sire Luco, and will be suitably named
'Stadium Project'. 'Stadium Project' will run in the
colours of Athlone Town Football Club, sky blue and
black vertical stripes.
'Stadium Project' is now in training with one of Ireland's
top racehorse trainers, Mr. Tony Mullins, at his stables
in Gowran, Co. Kilkenny. Mr. Mullins has high hopes
for 'Stadium Project' and reports good progress in training.
The Listowel Racing Festival in September is targeted
as the first outing for 'Stadium Project' and trainer
Tony Mullins expects the horse to be in top form by
then.
The Athlone Town Stadium Project Team would like to
express their sincere gratitude to the donor, who wishes
to remain anonymous, for this very generous sponsorship.
The Project Team hopes this gesture will encourage other
successful business people to come forward and support
this very worthwhile and necessary project.

Black-Tie-Affair
Raises €20,000 |

IF Aaron Callaghan and his Athlone Town team
can match even a portion of the style on show
in the Hodson Bay on Saturday night, then promotion
will be well within their grasp.
The New Stadium Project Committee held their
biggest and most public fundraiser to date and
raised a tidy sum with the New Stadium Gala Ball
on Saturday night. It was a black-tie-affair with
all the regale of a Hollywood opening. 330 patrons
signed up for a night of high entertainment, and
they weren't to be disappointed.
There was nothing spared. On entering the ballroom
the ladies were handed a red rose. Every table
had a complimentary bottle of champagne. A string
quartet played during the meal and the preceding
punch reception. This was a powerful show from
the New Stadium Project Team, with all frills
attached.
