DottyNeville and Dotty are two of our retired greyhounds that lived with us here at Golly's Kennels. They are brother and sister whelped April 1992, out of Bobs Mi Uncle, a bitch we owned who raced at Hove in the U.K. She lived with us when she retired from racing, she was a super pet who sadly died aged 8 she is greatly missed.

DottyDotty never raced, choosing not to chase that silly mechanical thing! At the age of 5 we discovered she has kidney damage. She had only 20% kidney function, but thrived on her low protein diet of rice - pasta - vegetables - noodles - lean cooked meat and Ready Brek for breakfast.Sadly in February 2003 Dotty had to be put to sleep after developing cancer.

NevilleNeville who shared a kennel with his sister until her death in February, now shares a kennel with one of our older brood bitches Annie. He raced at Portsmouth and Hackney gaining wins at both tracks. He enjoyed his racing but loves retirement just as much!

Pepper and Chas

Pepper and Chas are mother and son who share a kennel here at Golly's Kennels now that they are retired.

Pepper was a brood bitch of ours who we decided to retire after her 1st litter to Mustang Jack. Pepper was always a nervous bitch particularly with men, we mistakenly thought this was a learnt behaviour. Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case, as she passed on this trait to her pups. So disabling was this that none of the pups raced, though some were very promising fast pups during schooling. So now Pepper has been retired and will remain here at Golly's because we feel her nervous disposition would make her difficult to home.

Chas has adopted the role of guard dog in the kennels. His anxiety trait, though not obvious to us, does make him wary of any strangers and he soon lets us know if anyone is about. It is a shame that he did not race, he chased the lure but if anything scared him he would stop chasing and run back to us! We think he probably holds the sprint record for Galway running in the opposite direction. Still he makes a good guard dog and loves retirement as we spoil him rotten.

They both enjoy life on the easy list. Their favourite pastime is going out for walks, enjoying the lovely countryside we have here in the West of Ireland. Stopping occasionally to peer over the stone walls to check for bunnies!
