Information Technology Consultant (Contract)
On this three year contract, I was involved in the analysis and development effort required to achieve Year 2000 compliance and Euro readiness. These systems are written in COBOL and PRO*COBOL on Alpha VMS and BULL GCOS-7 platforms. I carried out tool selection, user training and user support for some of the analysis tools used for Year 2000 compliance and Euro readiness. During the intermission between the Year 2000 and Euro projects, I worked on the design, development and implementation of new features added to the existing legacy systems. The systems on which I did worked were Renewal and Billing, Data Capture, Electronic Money Transfers, Online Billing and Summary Ledgers.

BANKING SYSTEMS

Analyst Programmer (Permanent)
I participated in the
development of the Transaction Processing Gateway which allows Kindle's
BranchPower update the central database, belonging to the BankMaster product.
TPG receives messages in text format from BranchPower, performs the necessary
database maintenance and returns a message to BranchPower. I used COBOL on a
Hewlett - Packard UNIX box as part of this process. My duties fell into two
main areas, the design and programming
of new features being included in TPG, and programming solutions to software problems returning
form both client sites and the internal the System Test department. I also
performed analysis of software problems as they arose, client and programmer
training and some hardware support.
April '91 to Aug '94 CORE COMPUTER CONSULTANTS

Programmer / Analyst (Permanent)
I was engaged in the
development, installation and support of Core's Payroll Package using Oracle V6
SQL*Forms 2.3, SQL*PLUS 3, SQL*MENU 4 and Pro COBOL on VAX/VMS, porting onto
Unix SVR4 where required by individual clients. I also worked on Core's
Purchase Order, Grain Payments and Point of Sale Systems using COBOL, FMS, TDMS
and Datatrieve RDB in a VAX/VMS environment. On all these projects I
participated in design, development , testing, and implementation of new
features. I provided customer training and support following the implementation
of new releases. This involved
telephone support, modem dial-ins and Client-Site visits. Where necessary this
would also involve meeting users to determine possible new features to be added
to the Core suite of products.

I participated in the
development of the user interface and database handling for QC Data's Oil and
Gas Well Log's Project using C and the X windows Athena Widget set running
under Unix on a Sun Sparc.

Research
Programmer
I worked as part of the University's ESPRIT team on the REDO
project. It's purpose is the Reverse, Inverse and Re-Engineering of code using
a common specification language called UNIFORM. My tasks involved the development
of routines to translate the COBOL Working Storage Section to UNIFORM using
LEX, YACC and C running on Unix.

My primary task with FAS
involved instructing trainees a in the use of an integrated software package,
providing them with basic literacy in Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database
use and data presentation. I was also required to fill a general management
role which involved time tabling trainee activity, presenting their timesheets
for payment, organizing and overseeing various customer surveys, recording
survey data, stock control, goods inward and takings from the cash points.
