Getting Lower!(or is it?? )I bought Cobra Lowering Springs not long after the KA was purchased in December '99. Finally at the start of this month (June 5 months later!) we made the move to get the springs fitted. With the help of a friend (owner) at Pro-Parts the car was about to be tackled and started at the drivers side. With the whole side jacked up both wheels could be taken off and both front and rear changed at the same time. The rear was fairly handy but the front took a bit more effort (with one allen key getting destroyed in the process). With the rear spring removed it was compared to the original and looked the same size. Thinking that it might have been something to do with spring pressure it was fitted anyway and the wheel replaced. When the front strut was eventually taken apart the replacement spring was about 2 coils higher! Thinking there was something wrong here the lads cleaned down the spring that had been on the car and found the brand Eibach printed on it, but there was also a Ford logo on it! A bit confused at this it was decided to take the spring across to the nearby Ford dealership to see if they could shed any light on it. Upon initial inspection the Ford mechanic didn't think it was a Ford part at all, but when showed the Ford logo on it he was simply confused and suggested we try the parts department. They too believed it was an aftermarket product but ran the part number for us anyway. The result? It was a Ford part alright. A factory fit Ford RS chassis lowering kit to be specific! So it seemed the springs in the car were already lowering springs and the Cobra kit wasn't needed at all. Back to the car and the old spring was re-fitted while the front was re-assembled. So after 3 hours the car rolled back out of the garage with the old springs still in it (not to mention the car being returned with the paint work being damaged
