SnapScan is Agfa's low-cost scanning solution for any desktop Mac or PC, at home or in the office. SnapScan automates the scanning process into one-button scanning. The result is a scanner that delivers the ultimate speed, quality, and true color in one low-cost, easy-to-use package. In a recent MacUser Labs test (February 1997) of 17 color flatbed scanners, the SnapScan was considered "the biggest bargain in the Outstanding group" and rated a Best Buy!
The highly-successful SnapScan has expanded into a family of desktop scanners, and the latest models are the SnapScan 600 and 600 Art Line. Both scanners offer the same performance -- and double the resolution of the original SnapScan model -- only the 600 Art Line version includes a dusky-gray enclosure and image creation software from MetaTools. The SnapScan 600 and 600 Art Line capture impressively sharp images from photographs, artwork, magazines, books, and letters in any size up to 8.5" x 11.7". Just put the image on the scanner and let SnapScan do the rest. SnapScan's high speed software instantaneously produces a color preview of your picture. Agfa's automated scanning software checks the image and automatically sets the scanner for perfect results. A special lift-off hinge on the scanner lid allows scanning of books, magazines, or any three-dimensional object. SnapScan even has an option available for scanning slides, film, and negatives.
SnapScan 600 and 600 Art Line comes with Agfa's FotoLook scanner driver software (FotoLook 2.0x for the Macintosh and FotoLook 3.0 for the PC), which automatically calibrates for optimal results every time. It includes professional features such as image sharpening and descreening of printed matter. Also included is OmniPage OCR software. OCR (optical character recognition) software enables a scanner to read text from a book or letter and create a file on your computer. You can then use that file to change words, add sentences, and correct spelling -- saving hours of retyping time. The included PaperPort software turns either model into a document management system for scanning, editing, filing, faxing and copying. Both models are equipped for direct connection to PC or Macintosh (PC version includes an Adaptec SCSI interface card).

To help you express your creativity, SnapScan 600 and 600 Art Line comes with great image manipulation software (iPhoto Express for PC's or Color It! for the Macintosh). For extra creativity, the SnapScan 600 Art Line scanner is packed with additional software from MetaTools: Kai's Power Tools SE, Bryce 2.0 SE, Convolver Full and Soap SE.
