Each Summer,since 1987,lovers of poetry, of the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins in particular, assemble in Monasterevin, a Victorian village lying 40 miles south-west of Dublin in Ireland.

TRAVEL: how to get to Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, IRELAND

The Hopkins International Summer School takes place each year in Monasterevin, Co. Kildare.
Monasterevin is situated about 40 miles south-west of DUBLIN, (on the N.7 for those in cars!) and is easily accessible by regular buses from the Terminus for DUBLIN Airport Buses. (Click here for more about Monasterevin and GM Hopkins.)

Trains are also available from Huston Station to either Kildare or Portarlington and then, taxi to Monasterevin.This is approximately a 5 mile trip, by Bus or Taxi so won’t be unduly expensive.

MAYNOOTH Sunday Programme, Sunday (Sunday July 23rd, 2000)
Participants will travel by Bus from Monasterevin for the Sunday Programme which normally takes place in Maynooth University. The Cost of this Bus is INCLUDED in your FULL REGISTRATION FEE. (Advance Programme details here. Press Release here.

Prices for B & B Accommodation vary from IR£16 - IR£28. We do not have precise details for Summer 2000.

If you intend staying at a Bed & Breakfast Accommodation, we recommend that you contact the B & B directly. Satisfy yourself with what is on offer.

In general, while B & Bs offer more modest accommodation than Hotels, they are very comfortable and pleasant and usually represent very good value for money.


REGISTRATION FEES for HOPKINS 2000

Registration FEE for HOPKINS 2000 : IR£ 150.00

This FEE covers all events from The Grand Opening on Saturday July 22, 2000 to Friday July 28, 2000 : IR£150.00. This includes attendance at all LECTURES, POETRY READINGS, WORKSHOPS, CONCERT(s), for one (1) person.

Daily Rate: IR£ 30.00

This Fee includes NEITHER MEALS nor ACCOMMODATION.
