ICH has established the ICH Academic Partnership with a number of US colleges and universities to make sure your credits will transfer easily back to your home college. Often this will mean that you will pay only your normal tuition to your own college and can take full advantage of financial aid. Check with your study abroad office, or ask them to get in contact with us.

You may also enroll directly at ICH, with the approval of your home college. ICH accepts students based on the recommendation of your home college and your application essay. There is no minimum grade point average required or limitation based on year of study, although you may be subject to your own college's requirements for allowing you to study off-campus.

The ICH Academic Partnership Handbook will help you to determine whether to grant direct credit to your students successfully completing an ICH program.   This can mean that your students can use their financial and merit aid toward their fees for study abroad and under certain arrangements may only need to pay their own tuition and fees.  Students directly enrolling on an ICH program will receive a transcript from Randolph-Macon College, Ashland, VA.

ICH can also develop special programs for colleges wishing to send groups abroad for regular terms or shorter periods. We can create a credit bearing or non-credit program specially for your college group for a weekend, week or term. Bring your own faculty and use our facilities or let us develop a complete program tailored to your group. We can also arrange programs for faculty development, alumni groups or fund-raisers.

Irish, EU and International students may take individual ICH courses outwith the Degree Program or Study Abroad Programs if space permits.  They may enroll as either Audit students or as Non-Credit students.

A student enrolling in an ICH course as a Non-Credit student undertakes to participate fully in the course, completing all assignments, taking exams and attending all site visits.  This status is ideal for mature students returning to formal education who wish to measure their progress and results or for students wishing to undertake specific Irish Studies courses before going on to graduate work.   Non-Credit students receive grades under the same grading system as Degree and Study Abroad students, and will receive an ICH Course Certificate upon successful completion of the course.  Students may enroll in up to five courses as a Non-Credit student per term.

An Audit student takes no exams, does not undertake coursework or write essays and may not attend tutorials.  Students auditing courses with field trips and site visits must pay an additional fee per trip if they wish to attend.
