The Battle of the Boyne

On July 1 1690 two Kings faced each other across the River Boyne. By evening King William had won a decisive victory, preserved the Protestant settlement in Ireland and drove King James into permanant exile. It was a great victory for William and is celebrated to this day by the Orange Order
