Ar Meisce, (pronounced Er-Mesh-ke), is a band
formed in 1987 by a number of Irish employees of Philips
in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
The band is currently in a state of suspended animation
and members are lying frozen in Cryogenic containers in
various Cryo Centres around Ireland, notably in Dublin,
Celbridge, Maynooth, Ennis & Cork.
Two of the members are still at large, however, and are
currently being sought out by Interpol for crimes against
the musical tastes of humanity. One of these two
gentlemen is currently in Atlanta (selling tapes &
CDs) and the other has just opened an Irish pub in
Nijmegen (NL).
It is intended that by the time the rest of the band is
thawed out and reanimated that the 2 members currently at
large will have matured sufficiently in their musical
talents to permit reformation of the band.
The band released 2 CD recordings in 1989 & 1990
entitled,
"For Folk's Sake" and "Pump Up The
Trad."
While neither recording made it to the Top 1,000 album
charts, they were nevertheless enjoyed by many and can
still be found gathering dust in many a bottom drawer. It
has been reported that one CD was spotted on sale at a
charity jumble sale for 25 Dutch cents (approx. 10 pence
in Irish money).
A 3rd album was commissioned secretly for the wedding of
the fiddle specialist, entitled "Digitally
Idle" or "The Best of Ar Meisce"
