Remember - a dog is for life
These are our two mongrels.
One rescued from an animal shelter, and the other was the result of an accident that happened to a pedigree bitch belonging to a friend.
The black (older) dog is called Django -- see the musical pun -- Django Ryan. That was as close as I could get to THEEEE MAN himself. After years of burning out guitar strings and the tips of my fingers I decided to realize my musical potential and retire!!
The brown thing is unruly - don't ever take on a cross between a pedigree German Pointer and a pedigree Irish Setter. Pretty they might be, but unbelieveably stubborn. Her name is ALee (intentional capitals) named after my second favourite guitarist, but thankfully still living and playing brilliantly, Albert Lee.
Having said all that - they are brill - and we couldn't live without them.
Django when she adopted us as members of her pack decided to redecorate our house including such activities as reshaping our new dining room furniture, eating the wallpaper, skirting boards and carpets - she even ate two tiers of our wedding cake! While obviously tempted to give her foot powered flying lessons she did make up for it through pure personality (doginality??). She must have watched way way too much Tom & Gerry as a pup as her sole motivation in life is to watch out for, catch and destroy CATS! She hates them! I don't think she would know quite what to do if she caught one!
ALee is bred to the gun and since we got her at 8 weeks points and sets birds, collects feathers and generally is quite obsesssed with anything that flies - that however includes bees, wasps and beetles. She (without encouragement) has brought me two "wagtails" (small nervous & very active birds) alive, if somewhat shocked, as morning gifts.
Both dogs love to play but Django is the boss - to the point that ALee will only eat when permitted to do so by Django. In all matters other than food they get on great playing and sleeping together.
