Here you will find some information relating to Django Reinhardt and some links to other music pages that we like.
This might become a page in its own right just as soon as I figure out what to put in it. At the moment I mainly want to offer links to some excellent Django pages on the Web. I don't see much point in repeating whats already there.
For those of you who have never heard of Django, here is a very brief introduction.
Django Reinhard (1910 - 1953) was a European Gypsy who could play guitar!! For those of you out there who play guitar, imagine how it would be to have your fretting hand crippled in a fire, leaving you with only "limited" dexterity. This happened to Django, and you should (if you havn't already) hear what he was able to do. See the following photograghs - look at the left hand!!
As far as I know I am not infringing any copyrights on these photos. I have seen them in several places - I scaned them from an excellent book by Norman Mongan, titled "The History of the Guitar in Jazz", (1983 Oak Publications)
His perhaps best known work was performed & recorded with Stephane Grappelli on violin. I might put some sample .WAV files with chords/sheets in if I can shortly. If you have any ideas please let me know.
