Easter is the time for chocolate eggs of all sizes! For samples of these, see the page on 'Food'.

Decorating Eggs

Sometimes hand-painted hard-boiled eggs are hidden around the house or garden and children try to find them. As part of our project, we painted a number of hard-boiled eggs in our Art class and then our TY Co-ordinator organised a type of 'treasure hunt' to find the eggs around the school grounds. The winners received a chocolate Easter egg each.

Our painted eggs didn't turn out very well, so we got one of the class to draw what they should look like!!

Churches and decorations

At Easter, the altars in churches are beautifully decorated with flowers for Easter Sunday. Normally lillies are used. We organised a flower-arranging class and made lovely displays which were used in the local church. Pictures of these can be seen below.

Shops and decorations

Every year at this festive time shops, restaurants and bars tend to decorate their premises to bring the Easter sprit to the streets. The decorations are brightly coloured, heat warming and full of powerful meaning for many. The streets are full of bright greens to symbolise the shamrock and yellows to convey the new lease of life that begins in Easter. Many shops put up Easter bunnies and eggs, which are the true meaning of Easter for many young children.
