Easter has a large religious significance in Ireland. The Easter processions are common throughout the country. On Good Friday, two days before Easter Sunday, there is a procession through Dundalk for the Stations of the Cross, where stops are made and prayers said. These Stations are:

FIRST STATION
Jesus is condemned to Death
SECOND STATION
Jesus takes up his cross
THE THIRD STATION
Jesus falls the first
THE FOURTH STATION
Jesus meets his mother
THE FIFTH STATION
Simon helps Jesus carry his cross
THE SIXTH STATION
Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
THE SEVENTH STATION
Jesus falls for the second time
THE EIGHT STATION
Jesus meets some women
THE NINTH STATION
Jesus falls a third time
THE TENTH STATION
Jesus is stripped of his clothes
THE ELEVENTH STATION
Jesus is nailed to the cross
THE TWELFTH STATION
Jesus dies on the cross
THE THIRTEENTH STATION
Jesus is taken down from the cross
THE FOURTEENTH STATION
Jesus is buried
THE FIFTEENTH STATION
Jesus is raised from the dead

As part of this project, one of the Art teachers worked with students on their own interpretation of the Stations of the Cross. One student also did some tile-work on part of the prayer room floor. The work in progress and results are shown below.

The finished product. A silver cross in the middle, with each station in gold around it. We put the following sign beside it:

There are many other religious aspects to Easter which are covered in 'Traditions'.
