House rules and other game information

Note: The campaign has stopped running. The whole site is here simply for reference.

This section of the "Campaign guide" refers more specifically to game mechanics. This game is still basically AD&D, but a large number of rules have been changed or rewritten in the course of playing this campaign (it went on face-to-face for four years before moving to cyberspace). I have my own preferences, but I am moderately flexible and open to discussion... if something doesn't work, we can talk about it and change it. In the end, the best advice to players with regard to rules is simply "don't take things for granted"; and of course the old rule "the DM's decision is final" also applies.

So I'm not going to rule arbitrarily: but it would not be practical (in some cases, in fact, it may be legally dodgy...) to publish full details of the house rules used in this campaign - and so players should be ready for a few surprises. The rules do exist, though, sitting on my machine and in a set of ring-bound folders...

This section of the Campaign guide, then, lists and explains some of the rules that will be applied, particularly where they are different from "standard" rules. Initially, these are the rules that seem most useful to beginning players, to give them some kind of an idea of what to expect. More will probably be added as it becomes relevant (or as we get the time to do it...).
