A brief summary (I hope to be able to put the rest of the story on line soon, but I've decided to start with the more recent rather than the older events...)
Cynnhelm, Harald and Millani have all arrived, after shorter or longer wanderings through the Isles, in the village of Arcullagh for the fair that's about to start. After a bit of exploration (and a disconcerting encounter high up in the woods above the village), they've returned to Arcullagh to find that the "priest's book" (a copy of the gospels) has been stolen from the village church.
Cynnhelm has met up with the halfling Josh and the young Christian novice Gyvensy, and the three have been pursuing their enquiries with Old Deirdre, the village healer/wise woman.
Harald, meanwhile, had headed out of the church and into the woods on his own private mission....
Millani had found a suspicious piece of fabric; after talking to Harald in the woods, she joined the others outside Old Deirdre's house.
It is now the next day (St. John's Eve), and as the characters were starting a bout their business the "search party" of villagers, led by Fergal the innkeeper, returned to the village -- with the recovered book, minus its cover.
Harald has spent the morning at the hiring fair; Millani has set up her wares for sale not far from there. Josh has followed the innkeeper's brother to his house; Cynnhelm and Gyvensy, in the meantime, have been looking for the spring which Gyvensy saw in a vision, and which seems connected in some unclear way to the story.
