Mother's Day Cards
We made some great Mother's Day cards. We are such a creative class.

Science Night
Science Night was fants and friends. Mr. Browne spent some time with us teaching us about magnetism. We were very proud.astic in our school. We put a lot of hard work into preparing our experiments so that we could show them to our parent

Scarecrows
Lots of us are planting fruit and vegetables in our gardens, so we decided to paint some scarecrows to frighten away the birds.

"What Plants Need" Collage
Look at the amazing collage we did for Science Night. Aren't the colours wonderful? Everyone in the class helped to make this collage extra special. WE called it "What Plants Need".

Easter
We learned how to work with clay during our Art Class. Look at our pots that we made. We decorated them a few weeks later for Easter. Ms. Downes gave us chocolate eggs and chicks to put in them. Thank you Ms. Mahon for helping us too.

Daffodils
Daffodils are a sign of Spring. We made some beautiful daffodils using egg cartons, paper, paint and twistables.

Andy Warhol
Who was Andy Warhol?
Andy Warhol was a famous american artist. He helped to develop the Pop Art style which became popular in the 1950s and 1960s. Andy Warhol was often sick as a child and had to spend a lot of time in bed. Because of this he did not have many friends. He liked to draw pictures and listen to the radio to pass the time.

Our Cave Art
We learned lots about Early Man in our History classes. We did a virtual tour of the monnumental Lascaux Cave. We got lots of ideas from this tour as it is possibly the most beautifully painted cave in the world. We sketched our ideas in our S.E.S.E. copies and then we used pastels to complete our final drawings. Aren't they wonderful!

Gymnastics
We started Gymnastics lessons. We learned forward rolls and lots of different movement skills. We hope to learn lots more over the coming weeks.

First Confessions
We are preparing for our First Confessions in March. We are looking back on our Baptisms and talking to our Mums and Dads about them.

Penguins
We made penguins during Art Class after learning all about them.
Interesting Facts
Did you know?

  • Penguins are birds but they cannot fly
  • Penguins are warm blooded, even though they live in cold places.
  • They stay warm because they have a layer of fat under their skin called blubber. They also have lots of feathers.
  • They spend approximately 75% of their time under water.

We then looked up National Geographic Kids on the internet and saw Polar Bears up close. They are amazing creatures too. Learning is such fun!

Maths Trail
We did a Maths Trail through the Smyths Toy Catalogue. It really got our brains working! We loved working in pairs and in threes. we definitely cannot wait for Santa to come now!

Christmas Menus
We created our favourite Christmas menus in our own restaurants.
You are welcome to visit.

Christmas Decorations
We made lots of Christmas decorations, lanterns and cards. We hope you like them.

Monet Painting

We studied the art of the very famous Impressionist Artist - Claude Monet. We the went on to paint our interpretation of his "Lillies on a Pond". We had such fun mixing colours. Each child painted a first draft and we talked about improvements we would make the next time we painted it. We then went on to paint our next version. The final stage was to stick the bridge on to our paintings. Are our paintings not amazing! Monet would have bwwn impressed with us.

Drama

We performed the drama "Which Shoes Do You Choose?". It was such fun. We designed and made lots of props to help make our play more interesting and enjoyable. The Junior Infants were invited to come along and watch. We are very proud of ourselves with our production!

Clowns
We read the poem
The Circus
by
C. Michael James Dennis

Hey, there! Hoop-la! the circus is in town!
Have you seen the elephant? Have you seen the clown?
Have you seen the dappled horse gallop round the ring?
Have you seen the acrobats on the dizzy swing?
Have you seen the tumbling men tumble up and down?
Hoop-la! Hoop-lq! the circus is in town!

We drew pictures of clowns. We hope you like them.
