The Boss is the part of the hurl that strikes the ball

 
 

 
 

The Heel

The Toe

 
  The heel is the thick edge of the boss that contacts the ball when attempting to "cut" it off the ground. A "cut" is when the ball lifts high off the ground when struck. The toe is the sharp edge of the boss that is jabbed in under the ball to rise it.
