skintone - in slow motion cover

skintone

SKINTONE, formed just over a year ago, have been ensconced in their own private studio perfecting their sound until now. This Bray based duo's take on downtempo electronica has been described as "A cross fertilization between Orbital and Liz Cocteau" (Future Music Magazine). This is just one way of beginning to describe their blend of textures and beats.

The release of Skintone's debut album "in slow motion" on Peak Records fuses Ann Carroll's voice with Brian Kelly's music to give us an album of rare delicacy and character, something so often lacking in electronic music. "Skintone's music suggests late night sessions when the rest of the world is asleep" (Sound On Sound Magazine).

Ann and Brian have known each other for a number of years, but have only begun working together musically since Jan '96. Brian handles the engineering and production on the album, while Ann takes care of all vocal duties. "The inspiration behind Skintone was to combine electronic and soundtrack music with vocals" says Brian. "We owe as much to film composers as we do to dance music".

The future looks bright. "This talented team carve out cool tracks with a sublime technoballad flavour" wrote Future Music Magazine. Skintone are now busy writing and recording new material and will continue to carve out their own unique style.
