THE EDITORS
John Doorty
He is the author of Into the Heart of It: Daley Dialogues and Other Poems
(Rathbane Publishing, 1997). He was founding editor of the literary journal,
Departures, in 1987 and edited five issues. He is now the editor of New
Series: Departures. His poems and stories have been published in many
journals in Ireland and the US including The Bellingham Review, The Café
Review, Riposte and Visions-International, Books Ireland, Flaming Arrows,
and Dal gCais. John Doorty has performed many readings from his poetry and
in 1998 toured for six weeks in the US in a very successful promotion of his
poetry collection. He has written and performed in the play, ‘Out of the Heavens
in Showers’ - a one-man show with live music and dance based on the life of
the traditional musician, Micho Russell - in many theatre venues in Ireland.
Edna Faye Kiel
She divides her time between Western Washington and Ireland. She was fiction editor with `The Belligham Review` for many years. She is the author of several short stories many of which have appeared in Irish and American journals including `Books Ireland` and `Rosebud`. In 1996 she was a prize winner in the Kilkenny Prize for Short Story.
Knute Skinner
He was born in St. Louis but lives in Killaspuglonane, near Lahinch where
he's had a home there since 1964. Knute writes poetry and has several
books published. His first book, `Stranger with a Watch`, appeared in 1965.
It was followed by `Close Sky over Killaspuglonane`
and `Hearing of the Hard Times`, both of which drew inspiration from
the Clare landscape and history. They remain landmark works in his canon.
His latest book is `The Cold Irish Earth: New and Selected Poems of Ireland`
(1965-1995), from Salmon Publishing.
