Transition Year Overview The programme offers a breadth and balance based on the experience of 15 years, utilising specialist expertise and interests in constructing and conducting the courses. The year is one of opportunities in both curricular and extracurricular areas. The challenge is to achieve specific learning outcomes and reach targets set. Pupils are encouraged to take a critical approach to the information presented to them. They should acquire scientific and technological literacy. They will develop skills that will prepare them for the outside world and they will be ready to begin the Leaving Certificate Programme in a mature fashion.
