A 6th century monastic site, founded by St. Ciaran, encompassing a cathedral, nine churches, (10th-13th century) and two round towers. In the visitor Centre there are three high crosses, Early Christian grave slabs, exibitions and an audio-visual show.

All bus-coach tours must be pre-booked. Visitor Centre is fully accessible for visitors with disabilities. Facilities: exhibitions, audio-visual show, tearooms and car/coach park. Last admission 45 minutes before closing. A heritage card giving unlimited admission for one year to OPW sites may be bought at most sites for: Adult -£14, Senior Citizen - £10, Child or Student -£6. The Office of Public Works cares for many of Ireland's national monuments, inland waterways, parks, gardens and nature reserves. Many of these sites have visitor facilities.
