The following is a list of the prayers which the child may know at the end of the year. Some prayers will be familiar to the child earlier and others not on this list may also be known. (For example; the incidents which the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary reflect on are introduced early in the child's life, the formal list is presented later; many children will know the Irish prayers long before they appear on the curriculum). The current Re-presentation of the Children of God Series has offered additional prayers for some lessons which are also included here. The Teacher's Book has many prayers in the Thought for the Teacher section and provides a comprehensive variety of prayer forms. (Alphabetic list of the prayers)

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy
Hail our life, our sweetness, and our hope!
To you we cry, poor banished children of Eve;
To you we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping
in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate,
Your eyes of mercy towards us
And after this our exile
Show to us the blessed fruit of your womb Jesus
O clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

The Magnificat

My soul glorifies the Lord
My spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour.
He looks on his servant in her lowliness
Henceforth all ages will call me blessed.
The Almighty works marvels for me.
Holy his name!
His mercy is from age to age,
On those who fear him.
He puts forth his arm in strength
And scatters the proud-hearted.
He casts the mighty from their thrones
And raises the lowly.
He fills the starving with good things,
Remembering his mercy,
The mercy promised to our fathers,
To Abraham and his sons for ever.

Memorare

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
That never was it known
That anyone,
Who fled to your protection,
Implored your help,
Or sought your intercession,
Was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly to you,
O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother.
To you I come,
Before you I stand,
Sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the word incarnate,
Do not reject my petitions,
But graciously hear and answer them.
Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit (Adult)

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful,
And kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created,
And you will renew the face of the earth.
O God who has taught the hearts of the faithful
By the light of the Holy Spirit,
Grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise,
And ever to rejoice in his consolation,
Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Mother of Jesus and my mother too,
Help me to live like Jesus,
And help me to live like you.
