Re. Netdays Proposal
As part of our ongoing telecomputing project involving our three partner schools in Visby, Gotland (Sweden), Imatra (Finland) and Barcelona (Spain), we would hope to have our web site launched by Oct. 18th 1997. We envisage the web site carrying some information on the children from 5th and 6th classes (120 pupils), consisting of pupil profiles together with teacher profiles. The project began proper at the beginning of September 1997 and will continue for three years. The title of the project is "Our Heritage" and each of the four participation schools will gather and study information about themselves, their local ways and customs together with details of National/regional/local customs and festivals. For the month of October the children will be acquainting themselves with the Celtic Festival of Samhain or Halloween, as we know it today. The children will be participating in designing and launching the schools first attempt at producing all this material on their new school web site. The web site will also carry links to our partner schools. The schools e-mail address is : sjnsdlk@iol.ie and our 5th and 6th class pupils will invite anyone with relevant information to contact them at this address. St. Josephs School is the co-ordinating school in this Comenius European project and Madonna Lambert is the school co-ordinator.
I trust this information will suffice for your submission. I thank you for your attention.
It is the hope of the school to have a 20 P.C. computer laboratory in operation in the near future and plans are already at an advanced stage.
Yours etc,
St. Joseph's School, Dundalk
