The excitment is building about the newest astronomical phenomenon, Comet Hale Bopp. It is now speeding toward our inner solar system at nearly a million miles a day. Scheduled to be visible in the first and third quaters of 1996 and again in 1997, viewers located in the Northern Hemisphere will see it well placed in the predawn sky in the spring of 1997. It will be on course that will not collide with any planets includeing our very own planet Earth and will make its closet pass to our planet at a safe distance of 123 million miles on March 23, 1997.
Clearly Hale-Bopp is an important comet. For more than a year and a half, observing Comet Hale-Bopp will be a lasting pleasure for both the professional and amateur astronomer and a general, fascinated public as well. Dont miss it!!
Uses a 4-1/2" mirror to collect light from distant objects and a 5x24mm finderscope for low power scanning. Interchangeable 20mm/45x and 4mm/225x eyepieces and a 2x Barlow lens provide a maximum magnifacation of 450x. The eyepiece holder accepts 0.965" diameter lenses but can be adapted to accept 1.25" lenses. Eyepieces with coated glass lenses fitted into metal barrels are threaded to accept optional filters. Focal length measures 900mm. Other deluxe features include a heavy duty equatorial mount that will accept a motorized drive and a heavy duty, adjustable wooden tripod with accesory tray.
