FIRST FLOOR: BEDROOM, LIVING ROOM, BATHROOM

I've used a Laura Ashley fabric for wallpaper in this floor, and an old linen towel for the floor. These beds and the bedside table, as well as the lamp were made by Mikael Albrecht. I made the mattresses, duvets and sheets. There is a pack of cards and some money on the table - I got those from Jim's Printables. (The money is US$, I should really make some tiny €uro money one of these days..) The mirror was a pressie from my mam. More about the old photos below the next picture.

These photos are from Jim's Printables, I've glued them on yellowish card, which looks just like the card you often see with photos this old.. I have a really old (1:1) family photo album of my own, so I might scan some of those pictures one day, to replace these - after all, then they'd be my real old family pictures!

I needed something to separate the bedroom from the living room, so I covered a box with the same fabric I'd used for wallpaper. It's just a wall in the living room, but it's a bit of an open wardrobe in the bedroom. It's still not finished, I'm going to be adding stuff one of these days.. So far, the dolls don't have much in there. Just a silver trunk, a toolbox (made of Marlboro box lids, painted white with Tippex), and some misc. linen and a storage box from Jim's Printables.

The living room side.. On top of the wall, what is left of my first bonsai tree! (In case anyone's interested, I currently have "2,5" bonsai trees that I grew from this tree's cuttings - they're doing well..) The grandfather clock, chairs, table and couch were made by Mikael Albrecht. The vase on top of the clock was probably bought in Helsinki. On one of the chairs, there's a computer book - covers from Jim's Printables.

The pictures on the wall are those mini pictures they sell to tourists around Ireland. I've used pin needles to hang them. On the right, you can see a part of the trellis I made of gardening sticks and thread. The plant is plastic, and it's from a dodgy Blackpool souvenir.. The doll is 'possibly Helmut's' wife. Although bought in Helsinki, she's Irish, and her name might be Fiona. She knits the jumpers they sell downstairs! The jumper she is working on was knitted with these cocktail sticks, and her wool is actually a combination of white, grey and black thread. (Knitting that was a pain!)
I bought the tea set with a silver tray (not in this picture) from an antiques shop in Helsinki. 'Possibly Helmut' has one of the cups with him in the jumper shop. This tray was a pressie from my mam.

This rocking chair was a pressie from my mam, and the baby doll is really old. It was my dad's toy, and I can't remember if it was already old when he got it. It's quite dirty after all these years, but I'm not even going to attempt cleaning it! It's really cute as it is. None of my dollhouse children have names.

The flower pot was bought in Helsinki, and I've filled it with bluetack before 'planting' the plastic houseplant. I already told about the trellis.. The pebbles are from here and there, probably most of them from Kaunissaari, Finland.

My dollhouse family adopted this homeless cat after Daniel (my partner) found it on a train between Galway and Bray! It couldn't have found a better home..

This bureaux was made by Mikael Albrecht. Laptop, certificate, old photos, envelopes, other papers and the doughnut box are all from Jim's Printables. I've glued the photos on that yellowish card again, and the certificate on golden card. I like the laptop as it looks just like mine! I think the pot is from Helsinki.

The bookshelf and books by Mikael Albrecht. The big cat is wooden, I bought it in Helsinki years ago, there was some event where they sold African art and instruments. The passports and money are from Jim's Printables. The little photo frames are from Idea Forum in Helsinki, and the photos in the frames are of me - I had some in just the right size.

Close-up: a little camera and Kodak film, some printable money and a few little copies of RTÉ Guide (Irish TV guide).

The white piano is my old piggy bank, and the chair is by Mikael Albrecht. Sheet music and the old photo from Jim's Printables. The picture of Mozart is either from a Mozart liqueur bottle or from a chocolate box, I can't remember anymore.. The gemstone I've had for ages as well. The kittie bowls (on the floor) also by Mikael Albrecht.

And now to the bathroom.. The walls are just cardboard I've painted with acrylic paints. The two big 'glass tiles' are empty perfume sample bottles. On top of them, a Kleenex box from Jim's Printables (I've put some real Kleenex inside). The sink is made of a nightlight (which is kind of obvious). The bucket and the scales are from Helsinki.

I made the mirror of painted cardboard and a piece I cut out of a bigger mirror tile. As you can see, there's no plumming yet! LOL

The shower cubicle is clear plastic from a headphones package, and there's no shower yet! I've been working on a shower, though.. I made one of metal wire, foil and FIMO, but I haven't baked it yet. See my miniature site for more about that. The link is somewhere on the left, and once there, go to FIMO #2 page.

The bathtub used to be a bonsai pot! I found it in our back garden, cleaned it, and decided that it'd make a great bathtub for my dollhouse.
