Ok you are about to enter a new world of games. First of all I will explain 
  What a emulator is.

  Emulator: A Software or hardware device that tries to do as well as or
                   better than the origional.

  
   What is a Megadrive emulator?

   Well it is a program that enables you to play Megadrive "ROMS" or Megadrive
   games on   your pc. The games are a exact copy of the original, in fact there
   are a exact copy of the original. Yes copied directly from the game cartridge. 
   If you want to learn more about how the ROM or game is copied from the
   original cartridge click here. Lets get back to Emulators. We know now that
   the Megadrive games can be copied from the original cartridges to pc. The
   pc stores the game as a ROM file.( Read only memory) This is where the
   emulator comes into play. Say we had a Sonic 1 Rom, in order to play this
   we need an emulator to do this. Why? Well The ROM was programmed
   work on the Megadrive. So it would be impossible for it to work on a pc. 
   The electronics of a pc compared to a Megadrive are totally different; so the
   Megadrive emulator emulates the Megadrive's electronics virtually so the 
   game can be played on the Pc. Emulators, emulate electronics virtually. Which
   means the games you play on an emulator will never be 100% the same on
   the Megadrive its self. But there is one emulator that has a very high accuracy.
   Its called "Gens".  I would say in the region of 99 to 98% to the real thing!
