Gangchen Tulku (Photo 2)
Gangchen Tulku, enjoying the Irish landscape
For Gangchen Rinpoche it was his first trip to Northern Europe and he enjoyed the rough but charming landscape of Donegal (Ireland), and the friendly and open-mindedness of Irish people. Beside giving teachings and initiations he brought also his complete Tibetan pharmacy shop and worked as a healer for some local people. Beside giving a specific medicine for the body, he always added some medicine for the mind. It was amazing to see how willingly our local friends did learn a short Buddhist prayer, tried some unusual visualisations and started to speak the mantra of Shakyamuni Buddha: 'Tayata Om Mune Mune Maha Muneya Svaha'. I'm sure they were very impressed by this :-) Deeply rooted in their Celtic past they love anything magical and unusual, having a very tolerant and curious attitude towards spiritual and shamanic practices! We're sure they will remember this event.
