"Those who do not have the time or money to go to India or Japan, but who think a great deal about the wisdom traditions, have remarkable result when they take LSD. The Bhagavad Gita, the Hindu Mythologies, the Serpent Power, the Lankavatara Sutra, the Upanishads, the Hevajra Tantra, the Mahanirvana Tantra - to name a few texts - become, they said, finally clear to them. They often feel that they must radically reorganize their lives to harmonize with such insights. At times, as Snyder noted, the psychedelic experience led straight to meditation.
