INTRODUCTION
St Tiernan's has always been to the forefront in
training students in Information Technology and associated Business Subjects
and our Post Leaving Certificate courses have gained an enviable reputation.
In
addition to Award certification by FETAC (Further Education and Training
Awards Council), students are prepared to sit examinations set by highly-regarded
examining boards such as ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence), Pitman
Qualifications and ICM (Institute of Commercial Management (UK).
Students
work with up-to-date technology and have achieved outstanding results
over the years. Past students have progressed to further study at diploma
and degree level, others are employed in areas where the skills acquired
on the course are relevant and fully utilised in key financial commercial
and IT areas.

FOR PROGRESSION
All
courses are certified by FETAC (Further Training and Awards Council),
which was set up in 1999 by the Minister for Education & Science,
with the responsibility for making Awards in Further Education and Training.
FETAC
has established the Higher Education Link Scheme, which enables students
to progress from PLC programmes to Certificate, Diploma and Degree Courses
in the Institutes of Technology and now also to some University courses.
In
addition to University College, Cork and the National College of Ireland,

COSTS
INVOLVED
Course
tuition is free to students. However, all students are expected to buy
the books and materials required for each module and to pay all the relevant
examination fees, in advance.

PROCEDURE
Applications
may be made by contacting the school. We will send you an Application
Form, which should be returned to St Tiernan's as soon as possible. All
eligible applicants will be interviewed and advised as to the most suitable
course.
