Colour Poems

White
Hawthorn flowers on a tree,
White heather rooted to the ground.
In a field nearby lies a white donkey.
He shakes his head lazily.
Through the summer scented air floats a feather.
But modernization has now inflicted white paper
And a white bag thrown in the hedge.

Blue
A close by house,
A flower in the grotto.
The Blessed Virgins sash,
Tadgh’s clip board.
A mysterious blue flower.
The sky nearby.
The colour of blue.

Red
Red,
Oh Glorious red,
Our school t-shirt.
Red,
An old Autumn leaf.
Red,
A beautiful little flower.
Red,
Two little, dainty stems.
Red.
Red, Red, Red or Red!

Blue
A house nearby,
The sky up high.
A furry flower with no name,
A biro that I am writing with, full of shame.
A clipboard belonging to a lass,
And Virgin Mary’s sash.
O what a colour blue.

Yellow
As yellow as a ….
A dandelion flower,
The Church,
And the buttercup that gets eaten by the gabhar.
The water pump across the way.
The gorse bush, too beautiful to say.
All these things make me say,
How lucky I am,
To be here today.

Red
Red is a sycamore leaf that stands tall and proud.
Red is my collar which I wear to school every day.
Red is a stem of s Herb Robert which is pretty and hidden.
Red is an old leaf which has fallen to the ground.
Red is a laurel leaf that gets blown by the wind.
Red is an azalea that blossoms in the spring.
Red is beautiful in every single way.

Orange
Some moss,
A leaf,
A building roof.
The pencil,
Abbie’s bobble.
And a heather….. For you.
These are all orange
The colour of orange,
Just look, and you will see it.

Red
Dear Fred, I would like to tell you a little more about red.
Oh glorious red,
Our school t-shirt,
Red, oh did you hear that Fred?
A beautiful little flower,
Red.
Two little dainty stems,
Red, isn’t that interesting Fred?
Red, red, red, Oh Fred!

January is cold
And windy
Never hot
Use your firelighters
And
Radiators
You’ll need them

January
January has New Year’s Day,
And all of the best reasons to celebrate.
Now leaving 2010, a bright new year to come.
Under the ground the plants are sprouting,
All the animals are safe and snug.
Running through fields bleached white,
You have to say it feels right.
Boys!
Bold and noisy, messy and loud.
Oh but you have to give them credit,
Yes, they are actually quite nice.
So funny, kind and caring to mum when she’s ill.
January

January is my favourite time of year
And I want everyone to hear
No more chocolate
Uh oh!!!
And no more sweets!
Really really
Yeah I said really. Oh I hope no one can hear me.

January

January is so cold,
And 2010 is getting old
No snow just rain, rain, rain,
Umbrellas are very useful again
And people are cheerful but not for long,
Recession makes their life go wrong.
