In November 1998 - Dot.IE featured reviews of Top Educational Web sites. We were delighted with our review
For a tiny rural school with only two teachers and 60 pupils, this is quite an impressive site. The Togher National School in Cork has aggressively harnessed the Internet to connect itself to the world and educate its students. The Comenius Program links the school to institutions in Kilkenny, Sweden, Italy and England in an attempt to exchange ideas and study different school environments. The students in each school are communicating with one another about books, film, sport and music via the Internet to understand how others learn and understand such topics.

We were delighted with the review of our web page which was published in The Sunday Tribune - Education Matters October 1997. It is as follows -
For a small rural school - Togher N.S. (Dunmanway Co. Cork) - it certainly has embraced the full potential of the web. It is a two-teacher school at the foot of the Shehy Mountains, six miles north of Dunmanway with only 60 pupils on roll at present. It is not the first school you would expect to see on the web and is a brilliant example of how valuable the Internet can be as a communication aid in rural areas. Among the information on the site is a photo of the school, a selection of children's poetry and a list of school activities. The site informs us that there are 8 classes and two teachers, Mary Keane and Helen O' Connell, of which the latter maintains the Internet site as well. Impressive stuff!
