Carrick-on-Suir A.O.S.

Pictures Coming Soon!

If you've clicked here wondering what an A.O.S. is, then wonder no further! Carrick-on-Suir has a nationally acclaimed A.O.S - or Amateur Operatic Society.

The Society was founded in the 1940's and since then has gone on from strength to strength. After a somewhat nomadic existence, with equipment being stored all over Carrick and various buildings being used for practice, the Society were proud to open their new premises in Greystone Street, Carrick-on-Suir on Sunday February 2nd. 1997.

After great success in previous shows (Man of La Mancha in 1996 secured the "Best Overall Show", "Best Leading Actor" and "Best Leading Actress" awards), the Society scored a coup by being the first Operatic Society in Ireland to obtain the rights to produce "Me And My Girl". The opening night was Sunday March 2nd. 1997 and all present agreed that it looks like another award for Carrick-on-Suir A.O.S.

Tickets always have to be booked well in advance and this year was no exception, with many people waiting outside hoping for spare places.

The Society has several corporate sponsors and many patrons in the town to help fund such professional productions.
