The Star reports that Baywatch is to be axed in January 1998. Flagging ratings are blamed. The article also comments that the show has never achieved the same success since Pamela Anderson left. The Sunday World reports that Pam admitted she couldn't bear to watch "Baywatch". She mentions that she's seen clips from a few episodes, but is quoted as saying "it's not the type of thing you get all your friends around to watch." From The Star (again), Apparently Gena Lee Nolin is lined up to play a Bond girl in the next James Bond flick and there's no going back with Pam after Tommy Lee has his "ring" (a tattoo of Pam's name) removed from his finger.
Flame On - Angie'll set our screens alight
(Relax, Dec 7 1998)

Flame-haired beauty Angelica Bridges will be setting our telly screens alight next year. The raunchy red-head is the hottest thing on the beach in the new series of Baywatch. But she's not only following Pamela Anderson's footsteps - she's even stepped into her swimming cossie! "When I auditioned for Baywatch, they made me wear Pammie's swimsuit," recalls Angelica. "It was kinda baggy around the you-know-whats because I didn't stick out quite as far as her. But I must have done something right, because I didn't even have to read any lines. David Hasselhoff too one look at me and said: 'You're hired. When can you start?' I told him that my diary was pretty full for the next two minutes while I put my make-up on, but after that I'd be ready for action."
Irish fans of the sex-and-surf soap will be able to see some of that action when she plays Lieutenant Taylor Walsh in the new series. But don't hold your breath if you want to get rescued by her, she has already quit the show in America.
cheeky!
"There was quite a fuss when I left," she says. "Lots of others were leaving, but some people thought that I was wrong to jump ship - one that had made me a star." The good news for us is it's going to be some time before we catch up with here departure over here. (Newsflash for the reporter: We got season eight last year). She has also starred in a raunchy pop video for Norwegian singer Espen Lind's debut UK single, "When Susannah Cries". And the megababe is lined up to star in a TV series called Red Sonja, based on the 1985 Brigitte Nielsen action movie.
But Angelica is also turning her attention to some more up to date thrills. As a protest against the unofficial sites devoted to her on the Internet
(yikes), Angelica is planning her own.
"I find it scary that there are people with nothing better to do than look at computer pictures of me," she says
(Hmm, what might be scarier is if people don't bother looking at you in future, Miss High-and-Mighty).
