Great [or not so Great] Moments in NCW Rampage TV History

May 8th, 2004

We filmed our first 4 shows of NCW Rampage in December of 2000. The first show featured the birth of the Full House featuring Bull Pain, the Batten Twins, and yours truly, Scotty Ace. It also featured former WCW star the Maestro [now the 'Stro] and other matches filmed that night included Ricky Morton, Stan Lee, Killer Kurt, Something Else and Beau James, Roger Anderson, Frank Parker & KC Thunder [a group known as the First Family]. The TV show would run for 52 weeks...each a brand new show...and aired on WB 30 at 12:30 in the evening on Thursday nights. Ratings were surprisingly good for that time in the evening, and the station loved us!!

Anyway...here are some of the 'not so great' moments in Rampage history.

[1] Kelly Charles "fills his tights"

Kelly was in a tag team with Andy Douglas [now a "Natural" in NWA/TNA]. They were called the HeartBreakers and we were pushing them against the Battens for the tag team belts. Kelly and Andy were working a TV match against Lumberjack Jones and a partner. LumberJack is legit 6' 4" and weighs 400+ pounds. He shoots Kelly into the corner, and follows him for a squash. Kelly's eyes pop open like someone had shot him. He immediately tagged Andy and he took the match home. As Kelly left the ring, he went to the locker room, got a new pair of tights, and headed off to the rest room. One of the boys walked into the rest room, and found Kelly washing sh*t out of his tights!!!! Lumberjack had actually knocked the crap out of Kelly!!!

[2] Johnny Noble is claustrophobic!!

We filmed an angle after the matches one night that involved the First Family and Johnny Noble. We had turned Johnny's former partner Eddie Browning heel a few weeks earlier, and he had joined forces with Beau James and his group. The angle involved Beau, Eddie and Roger Anderson attacking Johnny as he left the arena. The were to stuff him into the trunk of his own car and speed off with him locked in there. The night that we were shooting it happened to be very rainy, so we wanted to get it right the first time. As I explained the shoot to Johnny, he mentioned that he had slight case of claustrophobia, so we needed to get him out of the trunk as fast as possible. I told him "No problem". We start filming the angle, and Johnny, according to plan, opens the trunk of the car. Just as he does, the First Family attacks, shoves him in the trunk, and attempts to pull off. But there is one problem...the keys are now missing. We stop filming, and with Johnny frantically yelling for us to get him out, we scramble in the rain and mud to find the keys. We figure that during all the commotion, the keys must have dropped onto the parking lot. But we can't find them. At first, Johnny thought this was a "rib", but when several minutes passed...lets just say that a little bit of panic set in. Finally, I asked Johnny if he could remember what happened to the keys. He got real quiet, then suddenly, the trunk popped open. HE had the keys the entire time, but didn't realize it!!! He simply pushed the remote control on the key chain, and got out!!

Next time...More Rampage 'Hi-lites' including Bull Pain, Stan Lee and more!!

Keep the Faith!
